Magical Mykonos

Kalimera! Open the door! Greece is waiting for you…
Mykonos is a fascinating place with history and tradition. If you are looking for a destination to have fun, this is the perfect place to celebrate the Greek Summer.

Mykonos is all you can want from a place where you can spend your Summer vacation: the sensational water, the azure, the glass-finished beaches and the clear water, the restaurants where you can eat everything you want, water sports, day and night parties, the best services at bars and restaurants.

Mykonos is a great destination, whether you want to sunbathe, practice water sports, explore the narrow streets of the capital, or want to party until the sun comes down. You can make day trips to discover the island with a private boat or yacht and enjoy the crystal clear and blue water of the Aegean Sea.

Travel tips...

  • It is better to go to the south of the island – because most of the beaches are in the south of the island
  • There is no panic about money. You can pay with the card almost everywhere
  • Lifestyle is Mediterranean: lunch is from 14:00 to 15:00 and dinner is from 21:00 to 22:00.
  • Clubs fill in from 3:00 AM to 4:00 AM and often remain open until 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
  • Don’t miss the sunset at Hotel Belvedere. It’s awesome!
  • Don’t miss a walk on the streets of the capital Chora, and at sunset you can stop to drink something at one of the terraces near Venice.
  • Nightlife in Mykonos is among the most active in Europe!

Best time to visit

The warmest season in Mykonos is between June and September when it’s sunny, hot and the water is perfect for swimming. Water temperature heats throughout the Summer months and is warmest in August and September. Since most people go to Mykonos for the beaches (and related nightlife) it’s pretty quiet here in May and October though the weather is still quite nice.

How to get there

The best option is to make your reservation through a travel agency. British Airways offer 7 flights weekly (May–Oct) from Heathrow or London City to Mykonos. Mykonos airport, 3km from town, has taxi service (€15–23 depending on destination) and far less frequent shuttle buses (two public bus stations).

There are many options – rent a car, scooter or ATV. There is a very good option… if you are more and you don’t want to stay with care for various reasons – maybe you want to drink a glass of wine at the beach or you don’t want to drive on the steep roads of the island – you can rent a car with a driver.

Food and Drink

Mykonos is famous for its wide variety of appetizers such as kopanisti, ksinotira, louza and sausages, but also for wines. The thick yoghurt, honey, mykonian cheese pies, platters full of various kinds of grilled meats, a rich assortment of limes, Greek salad… are just a few of the basic menus in Mykonos.

There are also many vegetables, such as horta, gemista (tomatoes or peppers filled with rice), bryan (a kind of fried vegetable stew) or fasolakia (green beans usually made with oil, potatoes and tomatoes).
